FACT: Pickle ornaments were very special decorations
for many families in Europe. The Pickle was the
last ornament to be hung on the tree, with the
parents hiding among the green boughs with the
other ornaments. When the children were allowed
to view the tree for the first time, they would
begin gleefully searching for the Pickle ornament
and the children knew that whoever found that
special ornament first would receive an extra
little gift left by St. Nicholas for being the
most observant child. |
